Will my lotion/oil/cream/gel go bad?
The holster is designed with a temperature controller. You can determine the temperature based on the massage medium you use. Even at its highest temperature your lotion will not get overheated. You will be able to use essential oils in your massage medium and not change the chemical composition of the essential oil.
How long will the lotion/oil/cream/gel stay warm?
Depending on your battery pack, your massage medium will stay warm from four to eight hours depending on where you set the temperature. At maximum temperature, the Basic battery pack will stay charged for about four hours, the Classic about six hours and the Ultimate battery pack will stay charged for up to eight hours.
Can I use your holster to heat my lotion/oil/cream/gel?
Yes, but to save on battery life it's best to preheat your massage medium the way you normally would and then use our holster to keep it warm.
Are the battery packs heavy?
Our "heaviest" battery pack only weighs 16 ounces. We also offer a lighter battery pack that weighs seven ounces. Please see our battery
comparison chart for more details.
Can I buy another battery pack later?
Yes, all batteries are interchangeable with the holster. The different battery packs are not interchangeable with the chargers. You must use a specific type of charger with the nickel metal hydride and a different one for the lithium ion battery packs. It will be necessary to purchase a charger if you are changing chemistries (type of battery). If you want to purchase the same battery pack, it will work with your charger.
My batteries aren't lasting as long as they use to. What's wrong?
If you're using nickel cadmium (NiCd) batteries and you do not charge or discharge the batteries completely, you've probably reset the memory.
This battery chemistry has memory and will change based on how you charge it. To reset the memory, completely charge and discharge your batteries three times.
You should notice improved longevity of your batteries. Lithium ion and nickel metal hydride (NiMH) do not have memory so the preceding does not apply.
Why does my lotion come out of the bottle lukewarm and finally get hot after several pumps?
As your lotion level drops, the dip tube of the pump is exposed to cooler temperatures. You can compensate by doing one of two things:
- You can keep your bottle full at all times so the dip tube is always surrounded by warm lotion.
- Or, you can insulate the dip tube by sliding a 1/4" copper tubing over the dip tube and snapping it into the bottom of the pump.
It is extremely important that you do not microwave your bottle with the pump or the copper tubing intact.
The second option allows you to have warm lotion and continue
to turn over your lotion to keep it fresh.
I've warmed my lotion and it was cold after 45 minutes of being placed in my HotStrokes® PHD™. What happened?
In addition to the temperature control located on the front of the control box, you must turn the unit on at the top of the control box.
I turn my unit on and the light doesn't come on. Is it broken?
No, the unit's not broken. The light on top of the control panel is an indicator of your battery's power. When you see the light come on
it's telling you it's time to charge your battery pack.
